Q. Why are we having an Evening of Chizuk?

A. After four months of war, those of us not on the front lines are ironically experiencing war fatigue. While natural, it is not something we can afford. We need chizuk.

Q. How will the evening accomplish that?

A. Rav Wolbe, z”l, advised that the cure for desensitization is being Nosei B’Ohl Im Chavero, climbing out of our world, entering someone else’s world, and seeing the world as much as we can through their eyes.

Q. Whose worlds are we climbing into?

A. Our dear friends and teacher, Conrad and Sharon Saks, will do their best to explain what it is like to have a 20-year-old son on the front lines. And a video presentation about the Goldner family’s first cousin, Yossie Hershkovitz, z”l, will help us understand why Israeli Army soldiers are different than other soldiers, yet very much like you and me. In addition, Rabbi Ozeri, will give us the Torah’s perspective in his inimitable and powerful oratorical style.

Q. Sounds meaningful. Will anything else be happening?

A. The evening will provide a venue for all our community to enjoy each other’s company, share food, drink, and song and hopefully leave invigorated and inspired.

Q. Anything else I need to know?

A. Yes, please make every effort to RSVP and come. The evening will only be successful if we all come together. Secondly, the evening is a fundraiser. Due to the war, we have curtailed our normal fundraising efforts and need the support. If you have a fully paid YAYOE membership the evening is free, but we ask you to please consider taking out an ad offering words of gratitude, tefilla, chizuk to anyone in the school community or elsewhere who you think could use a kind word and encouragement. Reservations and ads are at https://www.rayze.it/yayoe
