FINE ARTS AND MUSIC

The Yeshiva Aharon Yaakov Ohr Eliyahu music program is based on the belief that music education is a joyful experience that enriches children’s lives. Music class is an opportunity for students not only to develop musical concepts and skills, but to attain core intellectual and developmental skills and deepen their creative powers and aesthetic/spiritual perceptions.

The YAYOE music program is committed to the principles and process of Orff Schulwerk, developed during the last 60 years by composer Carl Orff and other European and American music educators. The Orff-Schulwerk process is a child-centered, activity-based approach that incorporates chanting, rhyming, singing, movement, body percussion, instrumental play, musical games and improvisation. The key principle of Orff-Schulwerk is that children learn music by making music.
